How to develop an effective website design

The success of any website is determined not only by its visual design, but by its usefulness and ease of use. A user-centered design approach is the standard for creating a successful website.

Clear purpose

Satisfying the needs and desires of users is what a good website is all about. You need to ask yourself whether your page visitors will be looking for entertainment, information, visual interaction, or an opportunity to purchase a product. The purpose of each web page must be clear and must be relevant to the user’s query.

Visual hierarchy

Creating visual hierarchy should be one of the highest priorities of any web design. Recall that visual hierarchy is the order in which details are perceived by the human eye. Some parts of the site have a natural advantage over others. If your site’s main menu has, for example, 10 sections, you need to ask yourself if they are all equally important. More important links should be more prominent.

Don’t test the user’s patience

By providing the user with a specific product or service, you should minimize the search time on the site. The fewer steps a user has to take to find a specific query, the more likely they are to use that site. When a visitor first arrives at a site, he will probably try  to explore services or products, but is still very reluctant to fill out long forms and create accounts that he will never be able to use again.

Concise text

People need to quickly get the information they need, so your communication with the visitor through your site content should be extremely clear and easy. You should always remember the following: the text should be clearly structured, have headings and subheadings, be divided into paragraphs and paragraphs, and not be a continuous undivided block.

Minimalist design

White space is one of the key design components. In fact, white space allows you to create a visual hierarchy of information, regardless of its type, color or image. If you create a page with no white space, filled with graphics and text, you run the risk of it appearing cluttered and chaotic. This is another reason why a simple design is much better. This doesn’t mean you have less content on the page, but it does mean using space efficiently.

Functional exposure

The use of the three-click rule in web design is often criticized, but from a usability perspective it is not true. This method promotes ease of access, clarity, a clear message, and a user-friendly interface.
